The best windows text editor that there is, Its what notepad should have been. UE32 is very configurable, and suports cromacoding for several programing languages, including HTML and java. Spellchecking, macros, hex editor, collumnar editing, hierarchical project file groups, the list goes on and on.. It even says it has an FTP feature, which I gather allows you to edit documents on remote servers. www.idmcomp.com

Paint Shop Pro

This progam does for images, what ultra-edit does for text. It doesnt pack the massive set of features that Photoshop does, but it doesnt cost $500 either, and its quite capable of doing most simple tweaking of web graphics. www.jasc.com

Super Notetabs

Also a text editor,  it falls short of ultaedit by a long shot. It has one noteworthy feature that merits ocasional use. It has "clip-book" tabs which are simply catalogs of canned text with some progamable paramters. This is extremely useful when your handcoding your Html. Traysaver

Wonderful though it is, microsoft explorer sometimes crashes, and when it restarts, all your tray icons will be gone, unless you have this little gem which magicly brings them back. Yeah, yeah, I know explorer ought to just work that way (or not crash at all) but what you gonna do. Install Linux so you can have the fun of RECOMPILING your applications when you install them. I didn't think so.

Winamp/MP3Spy

"It really whips the lamahs ass". Winamp is the best mp3 player I have ever tried. Come to think of it, its the only gui mp3 player I have ever tried, but I simply cant imagine anything being any better, and everyone I know who listens to mp3s uses it so I think I'm safe.

Mp3spy is a little gem finds mp3 stream servers for you. For those of you who don't know, this is the equivalent of an internet radio station that doest have any commercials, or station ids, or trafic reports or talking of any kind, just music.
